About ClearHaven Swim School

At ClearHaven Swim School, every lesson is more than instruction — it’s an opportunity to build trust, independence, and joy in the water through adaptive swim lessons for children who learn differently in the San Diego area.

Our programs are thoughtfully designed for neurodivergent and special needs children who thrive with structure, patience, and clear communication. We create a calm, sensory-aware swim environment where progress happens naturally — one small success at a time.

Structure Creates Safety

Predictable routines and step-by-step guidance help each swimmer feel secure and confident in every lesson.

Sensory-Aware Instruction

Lessons are intentionally designed for sensory sensitivities — gentle communication, gradual exposure, and an environment built for focus and calm.

Partnership with Families

Parents and caregivers are part of every swimmer’s journey. Together, we reinforce progress, celebrate wins, and build trust beyond the pool.

Purpose-Built for Children Who Learn Differently

Clearhaven Swim School was founded on the belief that every child deserves to feel safe, capable, and confident in the water. This is especially important for children with autism, for whom drowning is one of the leading causes of accidental death.

Early on, our team recognized that most swim schools are not fully equipped to meaningfully engage autistic children or teach in ways that account for differences in communication, sensory processing, and learning style. Clearhaven Swim School was created to change that.

At Clearhaven, lessons combine compassion, empathy, relentless persistence, and clinically informed methods designed to reduce risk while building real, functional water safety skills. Instructors meet each child where they are, progressing at a pace that prioritizes safety, trust, and emotional regulation.

We remain committed to staying current with best practices in adaptive and autism-informed instruction, because water safety for these children is not optional—it is lifesaving. By working closely with families and honoring each child’s unique needs, Clearhaven creates an environment where children feel understood, supported, and genuinely safer in and around the water.
